Mr. William Tang, Sales & Marketing Director of Waddy Jewellery Company Limited, talked to Hong Kong Economic Time in March 2012, about the growing potential of emerging jewellery markets, one of the most notable markets today is Russia. Russia has gained investor confidence and become a big luxurious market after China and India. It is inevitable the uncertain business environment in Europe due to credit issues had given a hand to push companies to search other new market expansion and exploit economic scales.
Waddy entered to the Russian market since 2007 and managed to develop and grow different product collections at various price points, to fulfill requirements and need arisen in different Russian market segments. In Russia, the jewellery market is far from mature when compares with Europe and North America; products with simpler designs and lighter gold, smaller or less stones and/or diamonds and price point in the range of US$50 to US$100 can by far find a lot of demand in Russia, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg where most of the import jewellery products are dispersed into the Russian market. The sheer size of this market provides a perfect training ground for new recruits in the Waddy factory in China and also become an important part of our success story.
Leading Jewellery Companies and VTC (Vocational Training Council) joined hands to uplift the standards and innovation of industry professionals. Enhanced training programs provide to employees, new comers and youngsters, strengthening their essential skills. Mr. Wong, Waddy’s Chairman is the convener of the academic research group.
